Do you think the boys name Brenden becoming too popular?

My husband and I have had this name in mind for a while if we have a boy. We want something unusual and I am afraid this name might be gaining way to much popularity.

"Brenden" (spelled that way) isn't listed as being very popular, but the more typical "Brendan" spelling is ranked higher. Bear in mind that the name is very similar to "Brandon," which IS very popular.
Reply:Brenden is a well known enough name, but I wouldn't say it is wildly over-used. I work in two elementary schools and I can't think of a single child with that name. In my opinion, you are better choosing a name that's been around for awhile and still semi-unique than going with a newer "original" name that millions of people will wind up using. For example, I run across a million Kaylee's, Ava's, and Jasmine's, a name that most parents probably tried to select because it was unique, but now is as common as Jennifer or Christine used to be. Go with what you like!
Reply:Well, Brenden was the 317th most popular name in the US in 2006. Brendan was 185th, and Brendon was 501st. Altogether, 3,651 babies were given the name Brenden/Brendan/Brendon. So I would say it's somewhat popular, but I don't think you're child will be one of five in a class with the same name, as he would be if you named him Jacob or Ethan.

If you think it's too common, what about Brennan? I like that version better, and it's a little different. I did know a boy in school named Brennan, but I don't think it's popular at all.
Reply:okay well some peopel may say yes and some say no it depends on were u are from.. around my area there is like noone named brenden i love the name u just goota think if u have heard it alot and if anythign u can always use it as a middle name hope i could help!!
Reply:well you say you want to name him something unusual, and brendon isn't really that unusual. but it's still a cute name. but it has gained a lot of popularity as of late.
Reply:I don't think it's too popular, but honestly when I see it my first reaction is that the parents wanted to name him Brendan but didn't know how to spell it properly.
Reply:I've never heard of anyone with that name, or anyone on here asking about it, so I don't think it's dramatically popular. But I might just be oblivious.
