I want his name to really say 'HI! I was born in 2008!' This is our first so I haven't disregarded a possible jr.
Wife is pregnant with a boy! What is a boys name that will really reflect the time?
If you really want a name that says 2008 all over it, I would certainly go with an "An/en/on" name.
Kaeden
Zayden
Brayden
Aiden
Hayden
Jayden
or a little more rare:
Keegan
Grayson
Bronson
Brogan
Quinlan
Bryson
Landon
Logan
These names aren't my styles, but they will 100% say: I was born in 2008.
For a middle name, give him a word that holds meaning for you, ie Truth, Justice, Peace etc...
Reply:Brennan, Jayden, Talan...
Reply:dont give him a "jr" name.. my older brother was named dominick jr and he hated it. but some of my favorite names are zachary william and shane alexander
Reply:Brad Pitt
Reply:well, as we see in Hollywood, you can name your child after anything, or just make something up by throwing a few letters around..haha
if you really wanted to let people know your son was born in 2008, how about Oeight...okay, im kidding.
i've always thought Jagger was pretty unique.
maybe Racer, there are a lot of occupations that you can turn into names, like Gardener.
i don't know if any of those help. but, congrats on the baby boy!

Reply:A name I like is Tanner, but if you want a sort of way out there name Zebulen Zebulan or Zebulon is a nice name. Its sorta cute you can call him Zeb. It also depends on whether you are looking for a common name or a rare name. Let me know!
Reply:In other words you WANT a trendy, overly-common name that will easily date him to a certain time period? LOL
Okay. In that case you might try Jacob (the most popular name for years) or one of his equally-common or up-and-coming Biblical brothers: Ethan, Noah, Jonah, Jack (on its own or as a nickname for John, Jackson, etc.), Jadon (or better yet, one of its random misspellings that are so trendy at the moment LOL), etc. Be sure to avoid the timeless classics, however. Michael, Joshua and Matthew are top ten, after all, but have been popular choices for quite some time, so they won't properly date him as a recently-risen bandwagon name will. LOL
Or if you REALLY want the name to be overused and dated, you might try a rhyming "-aden" name -- real or created (all are equally popular) -- such as Aidan, Braden, Caden, Dreydon, Graydon, Hayden, Jadon (already mentioned, so a double-whammy LOL), Payden, Quaidyn, Raiden, Sheadon, Treydon, Zaiden, etc. Or better yet, as impossible a spelling as you can come up with (the least phonetically probable, the better, unfortunately).
Likewise, many of the random, and again often misspelled, Celtic names currently popular should date him quite nicely. Aidan (Aiden, Aydan, Aadann, Aidyn), Braden (Brayden, Braidyn), Caden (Caiden, Caedon, Kaden, Kaydyn), Connor (Conner, Konner), Cameron (Cameryn, Kameron, Kamryn), Camden (Camdyn, Kamden), Logan (Logyn), Reilly (Riley, Ryley, Rileigh, Rylie), etc.
Random, trendy word names with little thought given to their actual meaning are hot now as well. Hunter (ah, one who tracks and kills sounds sweet, doesn't it? LOL), Ryder (yeah, ride 'er!), Chase (chase whom?) ...
You get the idea. Any of those overused trends should date a child quite nicely in a decade or two.
Here's an entire list of the most common names out there at the moment. The 2007 statistics won't be in for a few months, but hopefully this will suffice for now. ;) Happy hunting. http://www.socialsecurity.gov/cgi-bin/po...

Reply:What about James? If he doesn't like being called James, he could be Jim or Jimmy or Jamie. Might not be modern and distinctive, but maybe he can say that for himself (literally and figuratively). There are sites with names for 2007/2008 babies, like these two, if you search for them. For what my opinion is worth, he has to live with his name (hopefully) long after 2008 and what is cute now might not be when he is 45. Congratulations and good luck to your wife and yourself with naming your baby.

Reply:Well, anything like Hayden or Jayden would definitely say 'hey, definitely born in 2007-08!'. But please don't do those! I think you seem to be going for the more modern sound, instead of the trendy one. And generally, I'm not a fan of the 'jr.' thing. What if you guys have another son? I've always thought that then that wouldn't be very fair (true, he's the firstborn, but still).
Names I love that seem to sound pretty 'now' are: Chase, Channing, August, Landon, Aidan, Dane, Jack, Caleb/Kaleb, Maddox, Milo, Hugo, Tristan, Wyatt, Braden/Brady (I know it's a bit trendy, but it's one of the few I like lol), Grayson, Brody, etc. 'Surname' names seem to be really popular right now too, like Fitzhugh, Hendrix, Oakley, Hadley, Piers, etc. And of course, there's that 'trend' (not in the sense of the Jayden's, but more like a style in general) of old-fashioned names (like Ava coming back for girls): Henry, Jameson, Oliver, Austen, Nathaniel, etc. Finally, there are the just weirder names (some of which are pretty cool lol): Riddick, Roman, Bowen, Kaiser/Kai, Kubrick, Staten, Sutter, Duke, Atticus, etc.
I would really love a name like Aidan Hendrix or Milo Nathaniel - both very modern to me.
Good luck and congrats on the first kid!!
PS Before I forget, Irish names are really popular right now too - Bowie, Calhoun and Callahan (both also surnames), Cormac/Mack, Reilly, etc.
