Well I plan to have an agreement with my love love about naming the children.
Where it's normally the female's job to name, it should definitely be a mutual agreement between both parties.
I want to name my children according to my ethnicity and culture.
Some of my choices are:
Ikaika (Boy) [also since I'm hawai'ian]
Yukiko (Girl) [if born in winter]
Something Japanese or Hawai'ian...you will definitely not find a lot of those.
Even though I have hundreds of other names...it all comes to what SHE thinks =).
Basically, what you can do, try to see when your kid is going to be born, then try to name him accordingly and take pride in his/her name. You can easily find unique names online...or get help there for sure. I'm sure there are out-of-the-box names that have these meanings ^_^. I'll do some research for you.

Reply:My youngest son's name is "Dominic Kaine" and we call him by his middle name Kaine. I have gotten dozens of compliments. Although it is a name from the bible, I spelled it differently, and you really don't hear it often. This also might be helpful in deciding a name: Try to make fun of it as if you were a 4th or 5th grader. If you can't and you like it, then it's the right one. You don't want your child to be the butt of cruel jokes growing up, so don't pick something crazy just to follow a trend.
Reply:I named my son Cooper which a hated while I was pregnant, but it is a total fit for him now!! We thought is sounded like a baseball player's name, so my husband was hooked! Good luck, and congrats!!
Reply:I always liked Jaymz (like James), Liam and Aiden.

Reply:Try a Hindu name. Look up about.com Hinduism and from that set of sites you can find baby names. Hindu names all have a strong philosophical or aesthetic associations.
Italian boys' names are pretty cool, too. Pick one that matches the character traits you want your son to have.

Reply:I like Noland... Not too many people use that name. Try maybe using your maiden name, I know of some who have done that.
Reply:maybe you could look up for something indian or something like or something unusual like a EDEN for a girl
Reply:If you're in the U.S. -- Don't do this to your son. He won't thank you for a weird name, and that's how he and his classmates will think of it. Why handicap him socially and open him to taunts? There are thousands of names...just go to a baby names website and pick something out that has stood the test of time.
Reply:hardongie, benhueferd, jaklinoe, or stetsion.
p.s. to tell you the truth, i made these names up. if you make up your own name, it would definitely be the most unique of all.
